We have just started building an information site about Croatia's oldest town, Stari Grad, or, as it was known for centuries, Faros on these pages. Stari Grad in a safe bay on the island of Hvar was founded in 385/4 B. C. by Greeks. Remains of Greek heritage are still to be seen - most prominently at the Ager, the land divided into plots millennia before our times. And these parcels of land have been used ever since the ancient times.

Walking in the cobbled streets of the old town one can time travel to yet another historic era, the renaissance. Palaces, churches and centuries-old residential buildings of narrow streets and dressed up squares secure a fantastic ambience for the guests of Stari Grad.

Beaches in Stari Grad are found west of the old town. Their series start at the beaches in front of the hotels and stretch through the Kabal peninsula.
